Xewkija Tigers 1–5 Kerċem Ajax
Sunday, 25 October 2026 | Gozo Stadium | BOV Gozo Football League First Division
Xewkija Tigers endured a difficult afternoon at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday, falling to a 5–1 defeat against Kerċem Ajax in their latest First Division encounter.
Coming into the fixture following consecutive victories against SK Victoria Wanderers and Sannat Lions, the Tigers were hoping to maintain their positive momentum. However, a clinical Kerċem side proved too strong on the day, taking their chances and establishing a commanding advantage.
Kerċem opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Isaias Moura Vera Cruz De Souza, putting Xewkija on the back foot early in the contest. The visitors doubled their advantage in the 39th minute when Lucas Nahuel Casavieja Guerra found the net, leaving the Tigers trailing 2–0 at the interval.
The second half brought further difficulties for Xewkija, as Kerċem struck twice in quick succession shortly after the restart. Andre Gabriel Castro Martins scored in the 50th minute before adding another just a minute later, extending the scoreline to 4–0.
Kerċem continued to capitalise on their opportunities, with Isaias completing his brace in the 63rd minute to make it five.
Despite the disappointing scoreline, Xewkija continued until the final whistle and were rewarded with a consolation goal in the 90th minute, when Manuel Bustos found the net to register his first goal of the match.
The result leaves Xewkija Tigers on nine points after six league matches, with the team looking to regroup and respond positively in their upcoming fixtures.
While the afternoon did not produce the result the Tigers had hoped for, attention now turns towards the next challenge as the squad works to rediscover the form shown in previous matches.
