Sannat Lions 2–5 Xewkija Tigers | Sunday, 11 October 2026 | Gozo Stadium
Xewkija Tigers produced an impressive attacking display on Sunday afternoon, coming from behind to claim an emphatic 5–2 victory over Sannat Lions in the BOV Gozo Football League.
Braces from Matthias Said and Brian Alejandro Parada, together with a goal from Adams Amoako, secured a memorable afternoon for the Tigers, who demonstrated their attacking quality and determination to overturn an early setback.
Early Setback, Strong Response
The match began with Sannat Lions taking an early advantage. Yeangel Emilio Montero Manzano opened the scoring in the ninth minute, putting Xewkija under pressure in the opening stages.
However, the Tigers responded positively and found their equaliser in the 19th minute through Matthias Said, bringing the contest level and giving Xewkija renewed momentum.
As the first half approached its conclusion, Said struck again in the 44th minute to complete his brace and give Xewkija a crucial 2–1 advantage heading into the interval.
Tigers Take Control After the Break
Xewkija carried their momentum into the second half and extended their lead in the 54th minute when Brian Alejandro Parada found the net to make it 3–1.
Just nine minutes later, Adams Amoako added his name to the scoresheet, increasing the Tigers' advantage to 4–1 and putting them firmly in control of the encounter.
Sannat Lions managed to reduce the deficit in the 68th minute when Lucas Felix De Melo Gomes converted a penalty, bringing the score to 4–2.
Any hopes of a Sannat comeback were soon ended, however, as Parada struck again in the 77th minute. His second goal of the afternoon restored Xewkija's three-goal advantage and completed a convincing 5–2 victory.
A Positive Step Forward
The result marked Xewkija's second consecutive league victory, following the previous weekend's 2–0 success over SK Victoria Wanderers.
Scoring five goals after falling behind highlighted the team's attacking capabilities, while the contributions of Said, Parada and Amoako provided plenty of encouragement moving forward.
With seven goals scored across their last two matches, the Tigers will look to build on this momentum and continue delivering positive performances in the coming fixtures.
Well done to the players, coaching staff and everyone involved. A special thank you also goes to our loyal supporters for their continued backing.
Forza Tigers! 🐯💛🖤
